Hi Cathy. How can I stop my 11 month old daughter using the dummy? I have tried several ways, but could you please give me some advice?

CG: This is a very common problem and really there are two ways of approaching it. You simply take the dummy away, which will cause you and your child some stress for a few days. Or, and this is what I would do, reduce its use to just night time. I assume she likes it to get off to sleep? From there it is a small step to take it away completely. Which ever path you choose you will have to be firm and keep to what you have decided. You may find my book Happy Kids useful. It was written for parents and contains lots of practical and useful strategies that do work – for all ages of children. You don’t have to buy the book unless you want to as it can be borrowed from the library.
Thanks, two weeks later and she now just has it at night.
