I have read a lot of books from a lot of authors, but no one can write non fiction like you can. When I open a Cathy Glass memoir I feel as though I am in your home, surrounded by your lovely family, caring for and loving your foster child just as you are doing.  This is what makes you so special.  Your books take place everywhere, from the dinner table to the school heads’ office to the contact center, and you have so perfectly captured each place in a way that makes them feel important in their own unique way.  You’ve shown us that you’ll literally take anyone into your home, whether it’s Michael and his dying father, Tayo and his Nigerian dreams,  or Aimie and her drug addicted mother. And ultimately, it doesn’t matter, they become a part of your family. I will very dearly miss these memoirs, but completely respect your decision. I thank you for welcoming me into your life by nature of these books, every second spent reading them has been a genuine treat.

Dear Cathy, I’m a foster carer. I just wanted to say that your writing is truly inspiring and in the hardest of times, remind me why we do what we do. Some of your techniques have worked wonders with our young people and I’m grateful to have your support through your writing when things feel tough. I’m currently reading your book ‘Helpless’ and love the idea of having a marble jar as a rewards system. It’s something I’m going to try with my young person. I just wanted to thank you for your writing, it’s really insightful. I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas with your family. Take good care. Kind regards.

Dear Cathy, I started reading your book as a teenager living in Indonesia.  I am married now and we are foster parents.  Your books have inspired me since I was teenager and now after so many years, I am listening your books on Audible.  Thank you for writing these stories.  Your book is now my companion as I wait for our next foster child while home-schooling my two daughters! Thank you for the inspiration and pouring your heart into these children! Love

I’ve been reading Damage. I’m horrified and astonished by social services lack of interest and poor treatment of Jodie and as for her own social workers attitude I can only say I can smell it from here. As for your joke about how many social workers does it take to change a light bulb I love it very much very funny. I’ve had to dealings with social services myself before so I agree. Brilliant book so far thank you keep on writing and keep on caring.

Hello Cathy, I’m a fan of your books. I’m in the process of collecting them, I’ve only got 12 at the moment. I normally read one in 2 days, they really grip the reader. I feel like I’m living it with you and your family. Keep up the good work. Hope you and your family are well.

Hi Cathy. I’m in the US and have listened to most of your books on audible. My husband and I are foster parents and I just wanted to tell you how amazing you are. From John leaving to your parents’ deaths, I have cried with you and for you. Your ability to take such good care of these kids are amazing. You’ve given me hope and helped me on our foster care journey. We’ve been fostering now for 4 years. As you adopted Lucy, we’ve had a foster son who is 4. We’re hoping to adopt him. I just wanted to say I love your books and thank you for all you’ve done for foster kids in England. Respectfully,
Stephanie, USA, 22/11/2024

Dear Cathy, I have read many of your books and just finished Unwanted and Unsafe. I too was a foster carer with my husband and two sons for 18 years. This led me into social work at the age of 49. I am now an IRO achieving my dream of understanding from both sides the child’s lived experience and the important role foster carers play in their lives. Your books are wonderful in telling the true experience foster carers and their family have taking on the amazing and equally challenging role. I never lose sight of it being 24:7 and we can walk away and carers are there as always. Thank you so much for keeping it real in your books. I will keep reading your wonderful books. Thanks again Cathy. Best wishes

Dear Cathy Glass, I have been listening to your books on Audible and so far good. So far I have read The Child Bride, Will You Love Me, A Terrible Secret, A Life Lost and Girl Alone. I am hoping to read many more. I really liked The Child Bride and Girl Alone. I also liked hearing about Lucy’s journey and how you came to adopt her.

Hello, I really love reading your books. I read my first of your book when I was 13 years old. Now I’m in my thirties. I bought a few of the books in Sweden where I live. There are many books left to read. Kind regards
Jennie, Sweden, 13/11/2024

Cathy, thank you so much for writing all the books, I have loved every one of them. Sometimes I laugh other times I cry, but cannot put them down till I finish them. I spent my life as a nurse for 47 years as a nurse, most of the time in children’s ward. I loved looking after our little people, and I know love and understanding go a long way, even with the parents. My hardest time was when a little one went to their final sleep, it took a lot to move on. It is so wonderful to read the love you share, to every child. Blessings to you.
Lillian, 24/10/2024

Hello! I dream of becoming a foster parent in the future. I love your books about children in foster care, once I start reading a book I can’t stop. I am so impressed with how you handle challenging situations with the children. I have learned so much from your books and will be forever grateful for it and will always remember your methods and tips. Thank you for the work you do. With kind regards.
Rebecka, 18, Finland, 20/10/2024

Cathy I have read many of your books. Just finished reading An Innocent Baby. I have just started to read again now that I’m retired. I enjoy your books so much and admire your commitment to all you have fostered. Thank you so much wishing you and your family well.
Angela, 19/10/2024

Hi Cathy. Hope you’ve had a great break! I’ve just finished Zeena’s story ‘The Child Bride’; I really did wonder how it was gonna end, but I’ve now finished and read the update so it appears all worked out beautifully in the end and I hope she finds true love as for sure she is an amazing human being and deserves to be happy. Still more books to go so I’ll read on.
Ruth,14/10/2024

Hiya. I’ve finished reading Helpless. Good book. I’ve put a review on amazon. I’ve started reading The Night the Angels Came for the 3rd time. It’s my favourite but I know it will make me cry again.
Julie, 02/10/2024

Hello I’m a massive fan of your books. I can’t get enough of them. I’ve started the Lisa Stone books now too. I think you are an amazing woman.

Yes, more praise !!!! Outstanding! As a mom. Your work as a foster carer, an author…. An exception human being. Thank you for the work you do. I am based in South Africa, and our system does not allow for the kind of good you do. It takes a very special human and you are it! Thank you,
Bobby. South Africa, 11/09/2024

Hello Cathy, I have read all your books, those which are translated into French. I love reading you, I have this feeling of being part of the family. I was left hungry while reading the book A Small victim. Thank you sharing our talent. Good day. Sincerely.
Isabelle, France,  09/09/2024.

Hi Cathy, I read Cut and then A Child Bride back to back so I have many books to catch up on. I found each case utterly heart wrenching and it helps me to appreciate my own children and take the time to really listen even when they aren’t speaking. As a teacher it also reminds me that not all children are as safe and happy as we imagine. Thank you for sharing.
Elaine, 08/09/2024

Dear Cathy, I just finished reading “Unwanted”. Another excellent book.  Keep them coming!!  I am a teacher and your books inspire my teaching a lot.  Keep well. Warm regards
Mary, 31/08/2024

Hi Cathy, I am a huge fan of your books. When I’m reading your books I feel like I’m having a conversation with you. I feel that I can relate a lot to the children as I was in care myself due to abuse from my dad and my mother’s chaotic lifestyle with drugs I’m currently reading your book Unsafe about Damian and I have a collection of your books. Thank you for all the joy you bring in your books Kind regards
Charlie, 31/08/2024

Dear Cathy, I am so grateful to you for all the advice I have gleaned from your books over the years. I think I was a good enough mother to our three over 30 years ago but have learnt so much more from you now that we are grandparents. It is hard work and my heart goes out to young parents who are struggling. Thank you so much and God Bless you and your family.  I have just ordered your book Happy Mealtimes.
Jan, 24/08/2024

Dear Cathy, I appreciate everything you do for the kids you fostered. Congratulations on your new grandchildren, you’ve earned a much-needed break! Damaged was the first book of yours I read, it was very disturbing. However, I’ve been reading ever since. As heart-breaking as your memoirs are, they’re also uplifting, because most of the children go to a new home in the end. I’m still reading An Innocent Baby; I’m at the part where you decide to take in Darcy and her mother! I believe I can guess what will happen next. Anyway, please keep writing! Congratulations again.
Amanda, 21/08/2024

I have just finished reading unsafe. I enjoyed the book, how much I admire you and your family. Damien and his brothers were little darlings and the strength you showed taking Esme straight after I don’t think I could have done that so soon. It was a shock to read you were stepping back from fostering but in view of the two new arrivals (congratulations by the way, I hope they are doing well) I must say I totally get it.  Now is YOUR time for you and your family and I don’t think anyone would say otherwise. You have always gone above and beyond. Enjoy your new chapter. Kind Regards and best wishes.
Catherine, 20/08.2024

I’ve made the casserole from your Happy Mealtimes book and it was delicious, thank you for sharing it.
Nikki, 15/08/2024

Hi, It has been a while now since I had the pleasure of reading your previous thriller “The Gathering” but I have now finished reading your latest book “The Murder Room”. Yet again I very much enjoyed reading it and on this occasion, found rather amusing the somewhat farcical way that Alfie got himself in trouble. I enjoyed the detective work of Beth Mayes. Thanks again for providing such entertaining reading. Wishing you all the best,
George, 10/08/2024

Dear Cathy I love your books.  I have read them all or listened to them. I had a hard childhood but came out of it okay. I am a nana and a Mom and have a great husband. Thank you so much for your books, you’re my favorite author. I just listened to your latest book. It was amazing. Thank you so much. Take care and God bless.
Jaki, USA, 09/08/2024

Hi Cathy, I’ve read a few of your books. I’ve just finished reading Nobody’s Son. You do amazing things for the children in your care. You really need a rights honour. Keep writing and take care.
Melissa, Australia, 06/08/2024

Hi Cathy, I wanted to thank you for your amazing books. I teach child care at a college. Safeguarding is one of our units. And, obviously we come across children from all walks of life. Five of your books so far this summer, have had me gripped. I feel like I know you, Adrian, Paula and Lucy. I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and father. Thank you again
Stephanie, 25/07/2024

Hi. I am a huge fan of your books. I still remember the very first one of your books that I read: A Baby’s cry. I love the way you write and the way you deal with the kids your own and the foster kids.  You’re an inspiration to me. I’m currently reading: Saving Danny for the 4th or 5th time. We recently got rabbits so I decided I have to read about George. My in laws fostered 4 kids. Some of your stories are so sad. I cried during Will You Love Me and Nobody’s Son. I was intrigued and curious by all the interesting psychological disorders. Just wanted to thank you and tell you I am a big fan. Thank you
Chana, 23/07/2024

Hey Cathy, I am huge fan of your books you made me want to become a foster parent. But right know I just work with foster kids.
Aphroditis, 23/07/2024

I just finished reading “I miss Mommy”. Half way through it I almost threw the book down. I was so heartbroken for Alice and the heartbreak and injustice of being ripped from her family. But I pushed through praying that somehow a miracle would happen and indeed it did. My heart is so full and rejoicing at the outcome. Thank you for fighting for Alice! Thank you for loving her through her heartbreak.
Julie, US, 20/07/2024

Dear Cathy, I started reading your books when I was in & out of hospital. I would sit in my bed for hours reading which really helped take my mind off of my own situation. Your stories are so sad to hear because of the situations that people have put children/babies in but they are also positive as they show how these children are loved by the carers that look after them. I now listen to your books on audible because its more convenient. I now share them with my mum. Thank you for helping all those vulnerable children & for helping me through some very tough times. Best wishes
Rosanna, 18/07/2024

Dear Cathy, I’m a new foster parent in the U.S., and throughout my training and the early months of fostering I’ve found your books to be a great comfort and source of helpful information. I appreciate the insights that you give into the life of a foster carer, and I am especially grateful for your reflection on some of the emotional pitfalls of fostering. My husband and I have a biological 2.5 year-old daughter, and early this year we began fostering a newborn baby boy. It’s been a joy caring for him, in spite of some challenges with acid reflux and sleep. Reading our books has helped me through and I wanted to write to say how much I appreciate your opening up your home. I find that it’s very difficult to learn about the real lives of foster families. Thank you, and best wishes.
Anon, USA, 14/07/2024

Good morning Cathy. I have recently started reading your books. I read one and was hooked so have ordered five more. I worked in children’s social care previously and was a police officer, I can relate so much to some of the people in your books. I have seen some horrendous acts from dreadful people, as have you. But then I remind myself those people are cancelled out by the good in people like yourself. Thank you for being a shining light to so many! I am currently on maternity leave and I am really enjoying baby snuggles whilst reading your books. Nothing more precious than a child. Thank you and you are an inspiration.
